finding own IP ?
everytime I wanna know my ip I have to go to a website that'd give me my IP address. I'm behind a router, and I'm wondering if there is a way to find out my external IP via command prompt.
I know I can find it by going to the router and by using programs and whatnot:-D but is it possible to do it via command prompt? I have winxp pro

Re: finding own IP ?
Nope. The computer doesn't know that it is getting an IP address from a router. It just knows that it is getting an IP addres, and can report where it got it from.

Re: finding own IP ?
There always is DynDns (free)
this also works great if your router supports it (otherwise you will need a software client)
to get your personal website all you need to type is http://MrPolite.is-a-geek.com
btw: you want the Dynamic DNS Service.
After setting this up, if you still want to use the command prompt
just do "nslookup MrPolite.is-a.geek.com"
Tips:
- Google is your friend! Search before posting!
- Name your thread appropriately... "I Need Help" doesn't cut it!

- Allways Include the Name and Line of the Exception (if one is occuring!)
- If it is relevant state the version of Visual Studio/.Net Framwork you are using (2002/2003/2005)
