    Crystal Report Repository

What is the main advantage of using it?
What do you use it for?

    Re: Crystal Report Repository

The Crystal Report Repository is a new feature in Crystal 9. Reusable objects, such as custom functions, text objects, SQL commands, and graphics can be stored in here for application across multiple reports and users. When an object in the Repository is updated, the change will be reflected everywhere it is used.

Yeah, kinda. That would be a pretty good analogy.

That depends on the size of your project. If you are working with several other developers on a large scale project, and you are sharing, or attempting to share, functions and objects and etc across multiple reports, then it would be very handy. I'm not sure how useful it would be, however, if you are a 'one man band' working solo on a project.

My shop still uses 8.5, so I don't have the repository available to me, but I have worked on client sites where 9.0 and 10.0 were being used for a multi user/report application and the repository feature made it much easier to develop reports that shared common functions. I hope this helps.

    Re: Crystal Report Repository

Thank You Hack for all that information.

So, is the repository use more on a developer point of view. How is it different from using VSS?

Is there any other business use that you can use it for? I need to do more research on this for my company.
