    Brad!
As you can see, I have 1/4 of it used up. I will look around my chat posts to delete a couple big ones, but at the rate I am going, I will use up my disk quota in a few months.

Can we earn or buy more disk space? I find VBF an invaluable tool for communications.

I'm working to set up a Power Poster group that will have an addtional 5,000,000 bytes of storage (along with custom titles and a higher PM limit). Right now this is causing an error. This will be automatically given to people who reach 4096 counted posts.

What program are you using to save these images? things like PSP let you choose the compression ratio each time you save a fiel, try compressing them that bit more...you can safley set it to 25% and not have a bad noticable effect, example was on a jpg, gif's also give optimising options too .

EDIT: Also bare in mind the attachment you just posted to show this has lots of wasted space at the bottom, things like that add up .
When your thread has been resolved please edit the original post in the thread ()
and amend "-[RESOLVED]-" to the end of the title and change the icon to , Thank you.

When posting Code use the [VBCode]Code Here[/VBCode] tags to be able to use the code highlighting.

Just standard paintbrush. I dont have PSP. Most of my images are screenshots, text can get fuzzled if I compress them more. I will switch to GIFs and see how they work.

Most of my images are around 80K or less which I think is a reasonably small size. I just end up posting alot of screenshots to communicate ideas.

Well my pic is 38K as is. I cropped the bottom blue half and it became 32K. Not enough savings to waste the effort.

    6kb...

PS: When Brad first said that he didn't want to push it up more then he all ready had (then he had pushed it up to 5Mb) I went through all my attachments I had, and I deleted a lot of non importent stuff, and I went from 11Mb to 6Mb. When I say unimportent, I mean old pictures to ilustrate stuff in ChitChat, and non DIRECTLY programming related stuff like link and compile error images that I had posted, and avatars I have made for all the Chit Chatters. Now I have only images to illustrate programming techinques, and algorithms, and zip files with apps that I have posted. That helped a lot. You could try to do the same.

You are right, but I had already done that already. Only remaining posts are some uploaded projects, and screenshots pertaining to propramming projects.

I've found screenshots of windows save smaller as GIFs in the past (low color count). I'll look into it again.

Well I took a screenshot of this screen and saved it as a bitmap. Then I took the BMP and saved it as a GIF. Then I re-opened up the BMP and saved it as a JPG. Final result:

    BMP: 2,139K
    JPG: 123K
    GIF: 55K

Check out PNG. It compresses better than GIF in some cases. It can also have more than 256 colors.

And to maximize the power: you can find PNG optimizer program off the web, which takes out all unimportant information from the picture. I think it works for GIFs too.

You can also control the quality of the JPEG, I think 75% might be enough for forum usage. It adds artifacts to the image though.

The image I use as my avatar is a 112 color PNG, which I had to make some forum with a ridiculous avatar size limit of 3kB. The avatar is 2.98 kB.

Actually it is infinity becuase if you think about it. Sharing a pizza between no people means that no one will eat it. Therefore it will always be there.

Don't know why this is being discussed here but when you have z = x / y
As y approches 0, Z increases and threfore tends towards infinity . On a computer it would be correct to say infinity is not defined though .

    As y approches 0
.... right, but y is still not 0..... it just gets minisculy close. So any number divided by 0 still holds as undefined, no infinite. So, to get infinite pizza, you have to share it with <1 approaching 0 people. Since it's less than 1, you can't have any either..... which would defeat the purpose of wanting or having infinite pizza. And who would want a pizza they couldn't eat?

It depends on whther you blieve in infinity. But I like to think of 0 as an infinite number of infinitesimally small pieces.

You can, but you would be infinitely wrong. Zero is a well-defined value. It is just ... plain ... zero.

Then dividing a number by 0 will be infinity, becuase you can split a pizza into an inifiite number of nothings.

    1) Dividing ANY number by zero is, and always will be, undefined.
    2) Dividing ANY object by infinitely many small pieces will never amount to more than the original object

There will always just be the 1 pizza.
