    registering a software copyright ??

    Hey all.
I'm asking for a friend, the app in question is not mine.

Someone wants to register a U.S. software for copyright in China. The Chinese copyright office said something about turning over parts of the source code. My friend has no idea what that means.
    Neither do I.

What part is that? Surely you don't need to hand over the entire source code for inspection to get a copyright? And if not, then how do you pick?

Clearly, I'm unclear. If anybody has experience in this matter, please clue me in.
    Thanks

I think that the first and last page are required.

    ?
    but what does that mean?

I write apps in VB 6 . The source code (before compile by VB) is in a number of .frm and .bas files. What is the meaning of first and last?

    Maybe this will help.

Source program list: 20 consecutive pages for each of the beginning, middle and ending portion of the source program list, or the whole source program list if it is less than 60 pages in total.

    hey thanks.
    That's a pretty clearcut explanation.

Still, I guess I'm stuck on syntax here. What is a page? Why would it be referred to as first, middle, or last?
Look at a vb App, for example. it has 20 forms and 3 modules.
What is the first page of the source code? What's the middle? What's the last page??

I don't know why it's worded that way.

Just print it out on A5 paper in 160 point "Bold Courier New".

    That should sort it!

I'd do that by just setting the IDE away printing it all out and use the order it prints in. I'm sure the parts aren't too important its if someone else coppies you that you can show from those 60pages that they have copied your code.
