Concept of Procrastination
In order to get you into the concept of procrastination I am going to quote some of the most brilliant minds that have ever walked on this planet.
„h Nothing is as fatiguing as the eternal hanging on of an uncompleted task. ~William James
„h Procrastination is the art of keeping up with yesterday. ~Don Marquis
„h One of the greatest labor-saving inventions of today is tomorrow. ~Vincent T. Foss
„h Procrastination is opportunity's assassin. ~Victor Kiam
„h Tomorrow is often the busiest day of the week. ~Spanish Proverb
„h For those who practice not-doing, everything will fall into place. ~Triznay
„h Tomorrow is the day when idlers work, and fools reform. ~Edward Young
„h Never put off until tomorrow what you can do the day after tomorrow. ~Mark Twain
Many scholars will have you believe that procrastination can ruin a man, but I believe that procrastination can make a man born a new. In fact procrastination is not a bad thing; I consider it an organizer of priorities. Just think about it, the best way to find your priorities is to forget them. If one forgets his priorities and only focuses on what he wants to do then they will all reform a new. Do you not believe my ill-logic? Than I shall test you, tomorrow when you wake up do what you want, and not what you have to do. Go through an entire day doing what you want to, and then at the end of the day write down what you accomplished, and the items at the top of that list are your true priorities.
Out of all of the quotes above one particular quote sticks out to me: ¡§One of the greatest labor-saving inventions of today is tomorrow¡¨ It seems to me that out of all the scholars above Vincent is the only one who got the concept of procrastination correct. Why do something I hate today if I can do it tomorrow? Why not just do what I love and do what is required later?
The fact is that people have misplaced business and pleasure on their priority list, as most can tell pleasure and leisure both rank higher on my priorities list vs. business. I pride my self knowing that every day when I wake up will be a good day, not because I have money, not because I drive a nice car, and believe it or not; not because I have a girl friend. Every day is a good day to me because I know that every thing I do will be on my own time and at my own pace, and I realize that all of my days activities will consume of things that I want to do. For instance: ¡§Don¡¦t want to go to class? I don¡¦t go!¡¨, ¡§I feel like playing a video game instead of writing an English essay over concepts¡¨, and finally ¡§I would rather eat than go outside and exercise¡¨. If you live life based on this concept than you always beat time, matter of fact you completely neglect time all together.
The only valuable question I hear people ask me is: ¡§Well how do you get things done?¡¨ Simple, when I feel like doing something then it gets done. The beauty of it is that if you do things on your own time they will always be done to your full potential. There is no rushing into something, or doing something because you ¡§have to¡¨. Its just like a job, if your doing what you love then you will love doing it and you will do it to your fullest potential, but if have a job that you don¡¦t like then you just do what is necessary to get by.
As my essay draws to a close I¡¦m going to shock you one more time with my perspective on procrastination. I in fact believe that being lazy is to persevere. It is much easier to keep a schedule and time and to do what is required than it is to procrastinate and do what you love. But what you must ask your self is would I rather keep track of or lose time all together. Because time is the ultimate variable that defines true procrastination
Very short, only just over 700 words. I don't know what is required, but that is very short.
Your ideas aren't bad, but should maybe be discussed more. Oh well, too late now eh?
