Saving UDT in a database
I admit I must be getting lazy in my old age. But, to make my code/database interface more invisible I am trying to come up with the easiest way of saving a UDT or array of UDT's directly into a database.
Now, I would imagine the best data type to use here would be memo. That way the process becomes, serialise the UDT, store it as a string. The reverse when I need it back out.
To do this though I need a way of cycling through my UDT type programatically, so that I don't have to even worry about what the UDT comprises (told you I was lazy).
PHP have a function for arrays that I am trying to emulate here, serialize and deserialize.
Any thoughts on how I could cycle through an unknown UDT in order to do my own serialisztion / deserialization code?
