Hey plenderj! Brad!
Was my post actually that bad yesterday? I dont really recall what I wrote yesterday. I really was in a bad mood, so god knows what I posted.
Sorry if it went against the AUP! MY bad!
And to everyone else, I have personally been feeling some concern for what has happened to this forum. It is so full of garbage, its silly. I mean do we really need 50 new threads of words that rhyme with the first thread that started it? Its kind of dumb. We are all guilty of it. Some more than others.
Its really getting to the point that I dont feel like coming here any more.
I don't know. Maybe its just that I feel very tired lately and depressed and all that. I need a vacation.

Isn't Planet Source Code part of Jupiter Media? Maybe thats why it was deleted.
I doubt it was that silly argument we had - I have seen alot worse here. But if it was then .. sorry ..

I agree about the rhyming words.
This all stems from the powers that be. In particular their refusal to give us a decent contest to have a go at.
I came up with a really good contest idea this morning too.
I don't live here any more.

It just seems sillyness is too rampant lately.
As far as PSC being Jupiter Media. I dont know. Its not like I said PSC sucks. I just said Im tired of getting those emails from people wanting me to teach tme how to code.
I think it was my language in the post that was the problem.

I know, but when 99% of the posts are retarded, and the other 1% degenrate into sillyness, it goes way beyond venting.
I guess its just me. Its gotten kind of stale around here it seems.

More importantly, if the conversations are going to continue to center around topics such as "poo", then I'm tempted to simply close down chit chat.

I've just read the annoncment. I'm not going to try and deny my part in this, but my apologies for any offence which I have caused. I suppose things have got a little out of hand

Certainly I have nothing against being silly, I just think some of it is a bit out of hand.
And poo is fine in moderation I guess (see some sillyness there).
But I guess my only 2 real beefs is the make 50 posts that rhyme with another, and that even if someone does post a serious thread, it degenrates in 1 reply.

I think that we should up the 'two-word story' to 'three'
Just kidding

At least the 2 word story seems slightly constructive. Silly? Well yeah, but it has a point. Its a game in a way.

There we go again!
Some of the posts do get old before they are even posted, but some threads can wander off into really fascinating directions...like the old boycot thread that entertained our sorry lot for days. Much is dross, but everynow and then, somebody posts something, or wanders off on some tangent that creates fun and excitement. You probably just have to wade through a fair amount of chaff looking for those few grains of wheat.
Consider the World Events forum. People may not post there for weeks at a time, then I'll come in one day, and a single thread has gone from a single post to three pages in the course of a couple of hours. THAT's ENTERTAINMENT! But it's also communication, and there's something to be said for that. I, myself, live in a cave....no, I guess a cubicle. The programming tips on this site are of great value, but hearing the opinions on all sorts of subjects from this group greatly expands my perspectives. I rather enjoy it....even with a bunch of swill swirling around.
As for poo, being a biologist, I would assume any word filters on our e-mail system would simply fail. Biology is the study of sex. Every other aspect of biology, from eating to excreting is largely a process by which animals maintain themselves in pursuit of sex (certainly seems to be the case for programmers....and a mighty feeble pursuit it is, at that). When you dissect poo to determine diet, there isn't much that is off limits.
To quote Malcolm X "You can't hold someone down in the mud without getting down there with them." As it is in society, so it is in Biology.

I hope I didnt start anything bad. I just was trying to make a point.
Im not saying we shouldnt have fun, be silly, and make jokes, but some of this stuff is just getting stupid. Lately I feel like I have gone back to elementary school where life is an endless fart and ***** joke. Yes, I know I am just as responsible. I just came to the conclusion that this just isnt fun.

The issue has been building over time. I agree that there is room for fun and interesting dialog; however, I'd like to see it at a much more "grown up" level.
I'd also like to see some respect in this forum for those people that do have serious topics they would like to discuss that do not fit within the other forums. For example, the off-color and off topic comments posted in the fixed sized array thread were extremely disrespectful on a number of levels.

we don't need threads that rhyme with or is the same as another thread. those belong IN the thread, not as a new one.

Because then there would be absolutely no good reason for Jupitermedia (aka me in this case) to allow this one to exist.
If that is what you want.....

No, this is generally good. If there was just a way to filter it.....oh well.
I generally agree with Wossy, I'll try to abide by the AUP rules, but what would be the point of living without hearing more stories of Wossy's love life

I agree that things have been going south for a while. Not sure what part I've played in it, but certainly haven't played a part against it.
A good reminder to behave without actually kicking anyone. Let's all be civil and engage in some fun chit chat without the b.s.

Busy all day, thinking of the spare moment that might come up so I can go off and visit VBForums, and finally, I get here, and see Brad is about to shut us down!!!

I have deleted my "would you drink poo?" thread , and even though the thread pointed to a news article about expensive coffee that was made from animal poo, the title of the post may have been inapropriate and i apologize.

I think this has been a long time coming. Cander just tipped the bucket. Last thing we want is Chit Chat shutdown. It just wouldn't be the same in the Forum Test Area
