    Links...

When I click on the links within a post, nothing hapens. What's going on ? is there somethign wrong with the forums or with my computer ?

It's strange, because it works on the links that are the "forum's" links, but not the links people post in their posts...

For example I can click on "General", "Forums Feedback" links and also on "Report this post to a moderator " within the posts, but not on the links the people post...

I recently installed Service pack 2 for Win XP, could it be that ?

    [edit]
P.S. Another example, the links I have in my signature, none of them work, I click on the link, and nothing hapens...

All the links you are talking about are ones that open a new window so it would be safe to say you have some kind of popup blocker running. I have SP2 and it still works, I've had to tell FF to allow popups on this site though and in IE I have google bar and needed to allow that too to allow popups.

One thing worth trying is Hold down control While you click the link, anything happen?

No, it does not work with Ctrl+Click.

    I'm using Internet Explorer (BTW)
I went in "Tools", "Internet Options", "Privacy" tab, in the pop-up blocker, I went to settings, and added www.vbforums.com, and it still DOES NOT work.... I even unchecked "Block Pop-ups", still did not work...

I also have Avant Browser, it works in there, but in that program i can see advertisements, in Internet Explorer it just shows a white box where the advertisement should be...

But I don't have any program for advertisements or pop-ups, well, I used to... I have Kerio Personal Firewall, but now it's expired, after 30 days it expires, and i have it for longer than that... firewall still works, but none of the other special stuff...

Anyways, I guess i'll just have to live with it or i'll just use Avant Browser... though i would like IE better...

Maybe this is the time to advertise Firefox?

It has the lovely feature where you can click a link with the middle button and it opens into a new tab in the background. Popup-blocking is perfect too.

Is that a plug-in? It doesn't do that for me but would be very useful. I'm forever right clicking and selecting open in new tab.

No, I click with the mousewheel (as it works as the mid button) and it is one of the basic features of Firefox Hmm, to check if the middle button works at all, when you push the midbutton anywhere on the unclickable area, do you get the round scrolling image and you can move mouse around to move up-down(-left-right) on the webpage?

If that doesn't work, then I might have my suspects on the mouse driver.

. My middle doesn't do anything but scroll in FireFox . The middle click works in other programs though .

That's weird, the first time I've heard of that problem and it isn't because of the mouse driver. You could still try using different mouse driver... or you using Windows default or the mouse producer's drivers? (I'm using Windows default)

Yeah middle clicking has always worked for me to open in new tabs in the background. You could try installing the mouse gestures extension just in case it has something to do with that cause to be honest I dont remember if it worked when I first installed firefox or not

    As for the original poster,
I had this before as well, it was something wrong with my Java Engine and I could not get it fixed by reinstalling or anything. It only happened with IE, that is why I started using firefox, because I got tired of not being able to open a link without going to properties and copying and pasting the code.

Now I can't say for sure your having the same problem but it is a possability. Your not gonna like how I fixed it though... I reformatted the computer hehe. (Thats my solution for any and all software glitches that I can't figure out! ) I didn't really have to reformat it though, because since I started using firefox I fell in love with it and dont care to use IE anymore. I only use IE when a page dosn't display right in FireFox.

I'll be doing a great risk and my upcoming site will not look right on IE. It is ok in all other modern browsers except IE. If you want to take a look into the template: http://merri.net/indexm.shtml

It is all standard HTML. CSS contains optimizations to many browsers (including IE!). It looks wrong in IE for two reasons: bad PNG support (incorrect colors for PNG images) and because of buggy CSS padding support.

And the midclick works in a fresh install of Firefox for sure, I've installed it to four different machines without extensions and it works in all of them So the error must be somehow less directly related to Firefox.

This is a mouse I bought individually and I've only instaleld the drivers that came with it . It used to be glitchy with my KVM switch but now I have a mouse for each PC cos it annoyed me so much.

Most mouses should work with Windows default drivers. Actually, most mouses have worked better for me with Windows own drivers. For example, Logitech's drivers have caused me tons of weird problems, especially web related.

you're right. although the brief burst of blue looks neat, the text overlaps. haven't look further, or for longer than a second.
looks better than the old one, though, imho.
