    Question

    Hey all!

I've been working with VB for a while and I want to take on a project, but I'd need a dedicated team of programmers . . . You'd need at least some experience in any of the following fields:

    1) MIDI sound generating
    2) Knowledge of music and beats
    3) Save/Print/Open/Export(Import) coding
    4) the MIDI file format (specifications, etc.)

My goal is to create a non-profit version of MusEdit (http://www.musedit.com/) It would probably be open-source, unless there is objections. Interested? Contact me either by email at [email protected], a reply through this board, or on ICQ: 82404182.

    Thanx!

I think that sounds interesting. I am a musician in a rock band, so maybe I can help you.

My primary instrument is the drums, but I also play other instruments, such as guitar (fairly well), keyboard (eh, not too well), and bass (quite well, but no funky slap bass).

I have worked with MIDI recording and keyboards, etc. I think I can find the MIDI standards somewhere (there are two: SMF0 and SMF1)

I am a VB programmer, so I might do some coding as well.

If you are interested, I'd like to get some details on your project, some code, etc. Send me some info by email.

    -------------
    Forgot some details:

I read and write sheet music, including drum notation. I have a brother that reads tabulature, so we can do that too (he's the guitarist in our band).

I think I can contribute to the "musical styles", if you need to include some typical "rock", "funk", "latin", "blues" beats and things.

    Cool MusEdit

    Hey all!

I'm going to send you my layout so far. It has no code yet, but it has the basic design down. Another problem; if you've ever worked with MusEdit, then you know that it's a point-and-click program and you can put any combination of notes in (basically, you write the music ON the staff as you go), and there is also like 13 other different staffs (drums, percussion, alto, tenor, etc.) I can't find a control which would allow us/me to put this function in our program. Maybe a text based engine where it reads the numbers and selections to produce the output?

    Hit me back,

    JD

As for the music score, we can use a true type font that I have... I know that some software uses this approach, so that might be an idea. That would also work fine with a text-based system.

I don't think we will find an easy, free control for editing the staffs and all that, but we can look around. We may have to write an ActiveX control for that ourselves.

    Exclamation

    Hey all!

I'm going to email the creator of MusEdit and see what I can come up with. I know he wrote it in C or C++, but he may be able to help us with the control part.

    Anyways, bye for now.

    Unhappy Project

Hey, I was under the impression that you were sending the specs to me. Maybe you did, but I didn't receive anything yet.

Please send to [email protected] -- I can't wait to start working on this with you.

    Hey! Whats happenin?

I ran into some problems while getting you the source code. I got a new computer, and my dad told my brother to delete everything off my old computer (including the source code) while I was down at the Mall getting some stuff. Unfortunately, I hadn't had a chance to back-up and transfer the code, so it is gone without recovery. I'm going to try to re-program it, but it could takes days, so you might not have it until a few days after the New Year.

    Thanks,
    JD
