Malignant posts
How about this idea...
People with fewer than 50 non-chitchat posts cannot post clickable hyperlinks or attatchments.
This will prevent people advertising or posting malicious code without having gained a respectable reputation on the forum.
This restriction should include signature content too.
I don't live here any more.

Thats sounds quite good I recon, mind not sure about the attachments because they will sometimes need to show you code in-order to get help.
Images in the Signiture should be included as well .

Unfortunately there are a couple of issues that I can personally see with that.
First of all, the number of posts is no indicator of respectability. I have seen some members with over 500 posts who still seem to have almost no understanding of VB, and are unwilling to do anything themselves to solve their own coding problems.
I have also seen members with a reasonable number of posts who ask various questions which (when grouped together) imply that they are attempting to write malicious code. These tend to be the type of people who would do what you are trying to stop.
The second issue is that sometimes we need to see code to help someone, and the code can often be too large to post in a thread (or is spread across multiple files, in which case a Zipped project is very useful).
It was a good idea, but unfortunately it wouldn't stop that sort of thing from happening (even though it might reduce it). It would also give problems to more 'genuine' users.

Here is a perfect example (happened today): http://www.vbforums.com/showthread.p...hreadid=288339
The person has one post and I dought they will ever post anything of any use. Even a limit of 10-20 would stop this because I dought the person would have spent the time to write 10 posts just to put this post in.

Regarding your questions in the other threads (as I dont want to 'bump' them):
As far as I am aware the "report post" goes to the moderator of the forum that the post is in, and the Administrators (possibly to the 'super mods' too).
It happens like this because moderators don't have 'global' permissions. For example, I only have special rights within the UtilityBank section.
If you see posts like this please report it using the link, and maybe in addition PM the relevant moderator (if you dont know who it is, see the "Forum Leaders" link at the bottom of the front page of this site).
Oh, and no, you can't have the email address of another user

would you like me to do that with your email address?
There's not a chance I'm afraid, even if I had access to it.
(I dont care how many dancing camels you show me!)

I think the most likely course of action is for those posts to be deleted, with extreme cases or repeat offences leading to banning (as this isn't as bad as other things that users can do).
As there are so many users posting on this site it is impossible for the mod's/admin to read all posts (and edits), so we need you to let us know when posts like this (or that disregard the AUP) come up.

Marty sendt me a PM back and asked me what he should do about it. Since I was at work, I couldn't answer. But it looks like it is deleted now. It was probably the best the Mods could do.
