Career Advice
It is a little early for me to be thinking of a serious career in Computer Programming, but I've been looking into game development. Can anyone give me an idea of what they think will be a major part of computer programming in the future? Obviously database development and Web design, but in the way of Application Programming?
Thanks in advance

At least here in Norway most of the computer jobs here are network administration jobs in all sort of ways....on second place it's datamase management, and maintain old datasystems for banks and gig corporations. Here in Scandinavia game programming is one of the upcomming jobs on the market. But I never think it will be a big market for game programmers. But are you good enough it will always be a job ready. Had a friend on an other forum who just got a job in the 3D department at ATI. It's not a game programming job, but it's just as fun to make demos and screensavers for the upcomming GPUs.
This was at least my 2 cents....

You might want to look into Game Programming a little more in depth. I know a couple of game programmers and they say it isn't all its cracked up to be, they work extremely long hours, especially when they are faced with a release deadline.

Thanks for the replies. I've heard that aswell, but I've always been interested in AI, which is why I've started Half-Life MODs and such (I love re-programming the Grunts;army guys). I suppose I should look into it more, although it is about 3 years until I need to get serious about it
Thanks again,
