Mensa = club where arrogant, while fairly intelligent, people pay money to get a card that proclaims their intelligence.

"I'm in Mensa. I'll prove it! I got a card that says so!"

No! I'm not, nor do I ever plan to become a member.

I'm a former Mensa member and I can say that most of the members that I met were not arrogant. That is not to say that none were, but no more than what you would find in the general population. The one trait of Mensa members that stands out however is social ineptness. My theory on why that is the case is that many bright people are "book worms" and so they do not get the same practice interacting with people that the rest of the population does. Also, bright kids are often picked on in school and tend to withdraw within themselves.

Or perhaps it's that they find status games silly, chit-chat as mere rhetoric, and maybe just have nothing at all to say.

I'm near the top of my school and not socially inept... although I'll admit I used to be. You just have to.. go out there... It's surprisingly easy.

Oh, and the fact that my high school has a total of 350 students might have something to do with this too. (Every senior knows pretty much every other senior's face) A big friendly school lol.. (We've had like 1 or 2 pregnancies in the time I've been here... Apparently that's LOW)
Don't pay attention to this signature, it's contradictory.

I heard their meetings were mostly a dating club for the bright. Maybe it was bright and socially inept. Never actually met a member.

I'm so smart, I keep asking Mensa to send me an application pack but they won't.

They are clearly intimidated by my voluminous intellect and uh, y'know like whatever. Or somethin'.

Supposedly, an IQ over 133 would get you into Mensa.

    Famous Mensa members
ALAN RACHINS: Plays Douglas Brachman in TV hit "L.A. Law." He left the Wharton School of Finance against his father's wishes to pursue an acting career. During the '60s he was in the cast of "Oh Calcutta," a highly controversial play where cast members appeared nude on stage.
ADRIAN CRONAUER: Radio personality and subject for the move "Good Morning Vietnam." Started his radio career at 12 in his hometown of Pittsburgh, PA, where he hosted a children's amateur hour. Worked as a DJ at various radio stations and in Saigon during the Vietnam War. He is also a lawyer. Cronauer was originally attracted to Mensa because of the work they do for gifted children.
MARILYN VOS SAVANT: Listed in the Guinness Hall of Fame for having the world's highest recorded I.Q. (228). She is the wife of Robert Jarvik, inventor of the Jarvik 7 artificial heart. She also writes "Ask Marilyn," a weekly column that appears nationally in "Parade" magazine.
GEENA DAVIS: Actress. co-starred with Susan Sarandon in the hit movie "Thelma & Louise." Received an Academy Award nomination for her role in "The Accidental Tourist."
Mensa accepts a minimum IQ score of 132 on the Standford-Binet test. Apparently, I can be a member of mensa.
