    Use of Scroll Lock Key [Resolved]

    well, I know this is a dumb question. But I really do not know the use of the scroll lock key on the keyboard except that it lights the LED on the keyboard

    In Excel, use the arrow keys to move around. Turn scroll lock on then do the same.

    That's the only use I know of. I believe it has something to do with terminals.

    Mame (an emulator for "old" game consoles) uses it to show that you are running an emulator. But it is something from the very very past

    I hope thats the only use.

    Cause its really embarassing that I have being using the comp. past so many years and I dont know what that damn key does

    On my linux box scroll lock emmulates:

    #command | more

    preventing program output from scrolling off the screen This only works at the terminal though. If I ssh into the box then that function is gone
