how do u put songs onto kazaa? like say u have a song, how do u put the song onto kazaa so that when u search for the band, that their name and song can be shown up, or for ne other music downloader?

Just add it to your shared files, or throw it in my shared folder or whatever it's called.

Not likely. The RIAA doesn't own the copyrights, the musicians do.

The RIAA are attacking the creators of programs like KaZaA and Bittorrent etc... not the users. They may do in extreme cases, but they couldn't investigate everyone.

Haven't watched the news lately? They have gone after users. Over 500 so far.

I know... but it's usually users that act as a supernode which are targetted. It allows people to scan your system, and if you're found to have *cough* stuff... they can screw you for it. Some guy running a little KaZaA app in their back room stand less chance.

the musicians pay the RIAA to do the hunting/suing
this is how they avoid bad PR

although ironically the whole thing is one big dent to PR, not to mention sales

Deny, deny, deny. I didn't download or share any music. They cannot prove you did. It could be anyone that has used your computer. You can also deny the claim that you knew it was copyrighted. In this case, ignorance is innocence, until they can prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that you knowingly 'stole' music, they have no case.

As long as you have some destroy software at the ready, you'll be fine!

I use Steganos Security Suite which completely removes any file I ask using one of three methods... standard delete (useless) UsDOD 440.2 (deletes and rewrites the file 3 times) and the guttman theory (with is a 35 pass removal - only it takes AGES)

I've purposely destroyed files to see if it's possible to recover them, and whilst it's possible with the UsDOD method... it takes a lot of work. The guttman theory is just incredible!!! I wouldn't know where to start to recover anything from that method.

Do you know how long those software programs take?! The police bangs on your door, you set it to remove all your music files, they storm the house and go to your computer and it won't even be .01% done.

by the time they banged by door down, depending on how drunk i was, id could have gotten some thermite and lit it up (ya i keep it around, thermites a good thing to have around the house) or had gotten my shotgun and started shooting at them. and with a good lawyer i could prolly get off by saying that i thought that they were going to kill me and i feared for my life.

b-sides dont they need a warrant b4 I let 'em in the house? I think now they need to supena the ISP first? so i'd prolly have a day or so's heads up.

its all a bunch of bs any wayz I own just about every mp3 on my computer and i dont care if the person d/l from me doesnt, its not my problem.

I'm with kasracer on this one actually. I'm pretty sure that they have been prosecuting people for downloading. But as far as I know, it's only been people who have been downloading large amounts of mp3s (like in the hundreds or thousands).
