    1and1 is not free AFAIK. Do yourself a favor and pay 10 bucks/mo to get a good host. www.unitedwebhosting.com is what I use and I've been more than happy with them.

    The only slowness w/. !&! I've had has been the control panel, so I avoid going in there if I can. Other than that, it's been excellent. Yes it is true they are no longer free. They were running a promotional deal offering 3 years service for free. If you got in before a certain time (which was back in mid-January) then you could get in on the deal. Now it'll cost you.

    You could also give JodoHost a try. I use them for my DeveloperKB.com site.
