    Good looking packages

    Ok well I am just finishing up a boring financial app, but now that I have the functionality that I need, I need to make it look pretty and I struggle in the artistic department.

    So it has a main form rather than being an MDI app, anyone have some links to some good examples?

    well first off I have to say I laughed my A$$ off at the title of this thread.

    Secondly I really don't know what you are asking...

    You want to give your application a somewhat "windows" look. What I mean is most applications in windows have similar features, like menus shortcuts etc... this is on purpose... users have less to learn when things are similar. Users want to be able to hit F1 and have help come up... not need help to find help

    other than that though, keep the form clean and uncluttered. Test it on the lowest resolution it will be running on (usually 800x600 these days) to make sure everything still looks ok.

    heh heh, well at least it piqued your interest I have done all the functional things that you are talking about, but well it still just looks ugly even though it has all the functionality. So what I need is a couple of examples of apps using the right fonts maybe with a graphic strategically placed, to give a professional "accounting" feel.

    why dont u post a screen shot of your app, or post the form (frm file) if you dont want anyone to see the code you have written, you could always remove it from the form before posting. its hard to give advice when we dont know what it looks like now

    Microsoft apps. Simple, professional, and to-the-point. You've got your best example right there, so you can't go wrong.

    It's mostly about simplicity and ease-of-use. You don't want to go overboard with the graphics and colors, or give it that 'ultra-retro-cool' look. They may look good, but then your app's gone for a ****.
