    Hmmm

Search for TrueVision, it's an engine handling DirectX, it supports bumpmapping, and per pixel shaders(DX8 Stuff), handling DirectX yourself is just a darn big job!

    Cheers!

There is no way I am going to use TrueVision. I have been programming in DX SDK since DX7 came out for VB, and costoum controls for VB before that....I want the real thing....

Well, a good google search is alway good...
I could also recommend a book, that bought 2 years ago, which I still use for reference, is Windows Game Programming for Dummies, which describes the VERY basics of DirectX programming using C++ and goes to the more advanced stuff(This is only 2D though).

    Hope this helps!

Hehe....all that made me go was www.directx4vb.com and the samples in the SDK. Then I bought DirectX game programming for VB and an other book that I can't remember what is called right now.
