Flatscreens
Since my nice 17" monitor has decided to display in the middle 6 inches of the screen only, I've decided that it's time to invest in a new monitor. Although I could get a 19" CRT, I'm thinking more along the lines of a 15" TFT. I have a budget of £230 Great British Poonds (with limited flexability), and am wondering which TFTs y'all would recommend.
Cheers,
Jon

There are no bad screens. Just go to some local computer shops, and look at the screen within your budget. Buy one with a nice "view" and make sure it works at the resolutions you usually at.

So Unbanned
Get a program called powerstrip
You can adjust the resolution within the program, you may just be able to get your 17" to full screen.

Good Ol' Platypus
If you're going TFT, there are *good* brands and there are bad brands.
Good brands: BenQ is amazing, NEC is superb, Viewsonic is great and Samsung is okay, others I'm not sure about but a good rule of thumb is that if you haven't heard of the brand name before it's probably not a good idea.
You're going to want at least a 300:1 contrast ratio (350 or 400:1 are excellent, 500:1 is superb), and the higher nits of brightness, the better.
All contents of the above post that aren't somebody elses are mine, not the property of some media corporation.
(Just a heads-up)

I've *JUST* had an LG Flatron L1510S.... superb! Simply superb! £179 + VAT (£210 inc vat) at www.dabs.com.
Best TFT i've seen in a while. No blurring on high graphical apps, and the auto feature gets the best from your display.

Take a look.
