A question about Missing reverse DNS entry.

    Hi,
We have a couple of websites for use by our field personnel.
Everyone can connect except anyone using MSN as their service provider.
Doing a Trace Route (tracert.exe) by a MSN user shows the trace stopping at our T1 Internet Router.

Using the tracert at http://DNSstuff.com reports a "Missing reverse DNS entry" at this router.

    Questions:
Could this be causing the problem with MSN?
Could it possibly be timing-out trying to resolve the host name?

    Thanks,
    Al.

I'm not sure about my answer, I use MSN myself at home (DSL).
I don't know if your questions applicable for dialup connections, but for DSL users.
MSN uses f**king Arescom 800 series modems which is a POS. It has build-in wirewall, that you can't disable or configure. That makes some online games impossible to play and webcam live stream feeds unavailable too.

Maybe a builtin firewall is your problem?

    Thanks for the reply.
This happens on both dial-up and DSL.
I have found out that certain firewalls will not pass through an IP is there's no reverse DNS entry, Center Point being one.
