wireless broadband network for home
ADSL is being ordered as we speak. Now.
I can buy all of these parts at trade prices so there's no big problem there.
There's two manufactures I'm interested in - D-Link and Netgear.
Both of these manufacturers have wireless routers that go up to the 54mbps standard, but neither have a broadband wireless router that does 54mbps.
They both have broadband routers that'll do 11/22mbps.
So I have two options :
Buy a wireless 54mbps router and an ethernet adsl modem.
Or, buy a wireless 11mbps router w/built in adsl.
11mbps is just too slow for networking I feel, so I'm thinking perhaps grab a 54mbps wireless router, and attach an adsl ethernet modem to that.
That'd give me a fairly decent wireless network speed, and adsl aswell.
Any thoughts ?

I would buy seperate a 54 mb router and a "simple" ADSL modem. The reason, you have the fastest wireless network, and the speed of the network is always much higher as the ADSL speed.

Yeah that's what I'm pricing up at the moment. I'll post some price comparisons in a little while

I think for the sake of keeping the router & adsl modem the same brand, I'll go for the D-Link solution.
So an 11mbps wireless network would cost be €133.32, whereas the 54mbps would cost me €174.53
I'm getting nearly potentially 5 times the network speed for an extra €40
54mbps is the way to go methinks
Code:
Router w/intergrated ADSL modem
Netgear DG-824M €149.33 (11mbps)
D-Link DSL-604G+ €133.32 (11mbps)
Router w/o integrated ADSL modem
Netgear WGR-614 €97.16 (54mpbs)
D-Link DI-612 €101.87 (54mpbs)
Separate ADSL Modem
D-Link DSL-300G+ €72.66

I little off the beaten track...
Try 3COM. They have superb wireless products! I'm running a 22mbps WAP with 128b/WEP. It connects to a 22mbps PCMCIA ethernet adaptor. They work like a dream!
You can mod 22mbps WiFi 802.11G bb routers to support 54mbps, but it takes a few minutes to do!
The whole set of BB router, WAP & PCMCIA adaptor cost £130! Damn good for what you get.
Hope this helps.

Actually I just installed a 2.4GHz wireless network in my house and it rocks. You could try using a different channel.
