Windows Millennium edition. It's basically Win 98 except they've taken away boot into dos prompt. Seems like good old dos is fading very fast.

On the other hand, some people say that Windows 98 is more stable than ME.

What is it? On the other thread they said ME was more stable, who should i believe?
Use
writing software in C++ is like driving rivets into steel beam with a toothpick.
writing haskell makes your life easier:
reverse (p (6*9)) where p x|x==0=""|True=chr (48+z): p y where (y,z)=divMod x 13
To throw away OOP for low level languages is myopia, to keep OOP is hyperopia. To throw away OOP for a high level language is insight.

Well personally I like Windows 2000 Professional much better - More stable and the future operating system from Microsoft.
I personally go for Win2k, but if you are a games player ME might be the better option!!!
Windows ME - http://www.microsoft.com/windowsme
Windows 2000 - http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000
Hope this helps

I removed Win Me because I found that it crashed a lot. However it ran a lot faster than Win 98 but I also need the old dos because I'm busy converting old dos programs to Windows based versions. Maybe someone can help me on this one. I couldn't get the number of dos files greater than 60 (default). I added the line to msconfig and to autoexec.bat but it never worked. I couldn't add the line to the config.sys because it was cleared every time the computer was restarted.

hum.....
Im running both Windows 2k and ME, of those 2 computers 2k is the best, i still use ME cause the other computer have only 64mb of ram and "I" think no1 should run Windows 2k with less than 128mb of ram or else it's just geting slow, ME is not that better than 98, it boot faster, run a bit faster and is a bit more stable (but still FAR from the power of NT) and for the dos issues, there's a fix that change some files and bring the old dos back to live lol.....now for the cons: take WAY too much space, the computer ME is on right now have only a 1.5gig HD so i'll have to go with 98 (i have to format soon) cause all those new features from ME arent' worth the space which is precious on a 1.5gig HD lol but the computer running 2k used to have both and i would say 2k was as fast as ME if not faster, and ME crashed like 4 times in a week while 2k didn't (btw, ME was running about 2hrs/day while 2k was running the other 22hrs ^_*) as for games and stuff like that i would even sayz that 2k is better, i mean take Quake 3, it must be sooo sweet to play it with a dual Atlhon 700mhz lol as far as the compatibility of the games well i ran on only ONE game that didn't run on 2k and it was Duke Nukem 3d, but im sure that if i would look in it a bit more i could fix the problem but i didn't had time, and all those new games (and i would say 99% of the old one) WILL run on 2k, maybe a bit slower and even some a bit faster, and think about it, u can have more than one procesor on 2k ^_*
just for fun, my High School have a SWEET multimedia station, dual PIII 500 with 256mb of ram and all those neat video/audio editing things running guess what?? WINDOWS98!!! i mean what's the point of have 2 PIII on windows98?? win98 can't even use 2 procesor, they coudl take it out and no1 would notice!!
heheh

hmmm....
all this sounds interseting,
i reckon Win 2000, is the best,
other than the fact, that i have a
DVD drive in my PIII-550MHz, 128MB-RAM,
and the motion of video, (btw, i use POWER DVD)
works perfect in Win 98 and Win ME.
and with little bit jerky video under 2000.
i had the same problem with Win NT 4.0
so i accept this as a drawback of NT stream.
otherwise, there is no other OS like NT/2000.
regards,
ankit.
