Question Starting Visual SourceSafe in VB.net

In VB.net, at the File Menu, the SourceControl submenu is all greyed out. How do I turn on Visual SourceSafe so that I can use it?

I didn't see anything about VSS at the time of installation. Is there something specific that needs to be installed or setup?

    Thanks,
    Dave

Install Visual Source Safe. Should be on a seperate cd that came with VS.

Anybody know where it is in VB.net? I thought it was automatically installed as part of .net, and not a separate entity anymore.

I don't have a specific CD for VSS. I have 4 CDs for the basic VB.net Enterprise Architect, and one for the Component Update.

    Comes with
Visual Studio .NET. not VB .NET standalone. You will have to get SourceSafe from MS seperate. Or warez it from somewhere. Its just too expensive in my mind to buy on its own.

Let me clarify. I have Visual Studio Enterprise Architect. But I only installed so far the VB portion. I didn't see anything in the install option for SourceSafe.

If it is in Visual Studio, where is it, and how do I activate it?

You should have a fifth cd in the small blue box that comes with it. It is the VSS disc. If you dont have it in your box, contact MS as you are supposed.

Assuming of course you have a legal copy.

Of course it's legal. Well, at least it means that I should be able to get a replacement relatively easily.

I Wasnt accusing you of anything. Just was making the statement just in case.

Yeah. You are supposed to have VSS 6 with that. Call MS and tell them it was missing.
