Gigabyte do it again... check out these "major" pieces of kit

With the release of the GA-7NNXP and GA-7NNXPV (o/b video version), Gigabyte top the motherboard charts with yet another gr8 build.

Take a look at the full spec: http://tw.giga-byte.com/MotherBoard/...s_GA-7NNXP.htm

Really feature packed, AGP 8X PRO, DPS, SATA150... the works!

But the truly best part is this... (You can't tell me you wouldn't want one of these!!!)

Sweeeet! Great sound... looks fab and the quality goes without saying!

The model is GO6000MA, but it'll be a while before you see them in the shops.

    What do you think?

Normally I'd like one of those things (a lot... ), and the motherboard looks schweet. However, I'm starting to become an electronics enthousiast and thus am trying to make that kind of kit myself, plus I use a homemade infrared dongle (using LIRC or WinLIRC for the software bit) and can control anything from winamp to counterstrike. If there is a model without that though, could be part of my next upgrade (T-bred B and nForce2).

hrm....considering this board is a revised nForce 2, if it drops to about $160 CDN by August I will seriously consider getting it...

that is if NF7-S 2.0s aren't down to like $110 or 120 by then...

Inbound DDOS traffic at Gigabyte's head office in Taiwan...

Yeah, it eventually came through. Looks nice.

My next computer I'm going to have to be more careful about what I put in it, because I might want to put any OS on depending on time.

Gigabyte are an odd target for a DDOS though

Our IRC net got DDOSed once (never really did find out who it was, we think it was a past staff member that had a bit of a grudge).

One of the shell's providers clocked it at multiple gigaBYTEs (not gigabits) of incoming traffic to one of their IPs

OMG... switch the router to mirror for a moment lol

Thats one of the reasons I love VisualTrace style packages, which is great unless the connection is zombied

    Or worse.... Stealthed!

SYN flood. Spoofed IPs. Normal stuff, no way to defend except to fix the upstream routers.

    Exactly!

The amount of TCP SYN floods we get is blumin' stupid. The firewalls swallows most of it... but the servers do ocassionally lag if packets get through.

The IWF are trying to establish ways of detecting spoofed IP's... but i personally cannot understand how they intend to deploy that properly without bugging IPv6 when it's globally released!

It'll prevent it... but not eradicate it! Pfft.

    Just a quick note:

The DDOS on the GBT is clearing, as the routers recover... all will be well soon.

    Cheers.

I just love Gigabyte mobo's - they go into every PC I build. They exude quality, and the value for money is unbeatable. Probably why those lamers want to do a ddos attack, because they haven't got one

The only trouble with the Digital Media Package is that I don't have any 5.25 bays left

Note to Antec & Thermaltake (my favourite case mfrs); you need to include more external 5¼ bays these days for this sort of thing.
    Nick.
