    How do i solve this?

    Im in grade 8 so i dont know how to solve for x in this problem

    2^x = 1000

    can you plz explain how to solve this?

    well, the best way to solve this problem is to use a calculator. do you see the log button? just evaluate (log 1000)/(log 2)

    2^x = 1000

    log base 2 both sides, so that:

    x = log(1000)/log(2)


    log(x) is called the common log, with base 10

    log(x)/log(y) is called the log of x base y

    sometimes written as logy x
