Lightbulb The Screen on Startup for Windows 2000 **SOLVED**

    Ok heres my Question:

    I am using Windows 2000 Professional;

While the OS is booting, it is showing this Screen saying Windows 2000 Welcome, and that progress Bar on the bottom!

Now, I´ve seen on some Company PCs that they changed this Screen to their company Logo!

Do you know how to do that? Is there a registry key to it or something?

    Thanx in advance, Stephan

I know that on old 9X machines it was just to make a bmp file in 640*480 size and call it logo.ini and to put it in C:\ not sure if that will work on 2k....

But if I take a look on my OS-Drive theres no such file as logo.ini? Not on my whole Harddrive, been searching for it! Souldnt bee there one already?

    But I`ll try it anyways,

Is there a registry key which I can just set to a .bmp or .jpg or something?

Or is it possible to modify the file that controles the boot, and which one ist it?

    Thanx Stephan

I think it was a file in 95 and 98 but in Me they took it away. It generated it out from one of the system files. But you could still make that logo.ini file in ME and still make it work....but I don't know on 2K....

95/98/ME, Logo.SYS in the root drive, if it's not there, just create it

There are "modified" ntoskrnl.exe files available. These, of course, have pictures that probably aren't your company logo

But if they've done it, maybe you can ask the author of one of these to make one fo ryou?

Same thing but different from Littlewhitedog. I have done it, it's not that hard and doesn't take that long to do.

You could change the Logon Screen Wallpaper to your company logo. A little easier to do and has a similar effect.
    I got this from Winguides
When you setup a background wallpaper for your desktop, the initial logon screen wallpaper is not changed and stays as the default Windows appearance. This tweak allows you to change the default wallpaper.

Open your registry and find the key below.
    HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Control Panel\Desktop
Modify the value of 'Wallpaper' to equal the path and filename of the bitmap (BMP) file you want to use as the background (e.g. 'c:\windows\mylogo.bmp').

In the same key, you can also modify these additional values
    "TileWallpaper" 1=tiled 0=centered or stretched.
"WallpaperStyle" 2=stretched 0= tiled or centered

Restart Windows for the changes to take effect.
