Between friendly fire and all of the helicopters and such that fall out of the sky, it would be amazing if Saddam was worried at all.

Where are you getting your information that it was an American that threw that grenade? I haven't heard anything along those lines.

Nah... but they had similar problems in Afganishtan as well. Most of the deaths were just from something going wrong.

compare this entire death count to, say, the count from a 20km radius around Paris in early WW2....its nothing.

Having worked on F-16's, A-10's, and other aircraft, I can tell you this.... All your hearing about is the mechanical failures of a few of the large amounts of aircraft that are flying. In the last few days, there has probably been over a thousand flights when you combine all air vehicles. How many have crashed? 1...maybe 2. Plus, all these aircraft are flying in combat manuvers, which mean they are pushed to their limits every flight! Combine that with human error (yes, it does happen), we have an AWESOME record for keeping vehicles in the air. We have VERY strict guidlines when we repair aircraft, shortcuts on the job are not condoned. Those quidlines are eased up when we go to war because it is more important to fly the next mission, some quality suffers, but not so much that it endangers the pilot or crews.

Think of it this way, try getting a thousand cars to go all around a small area as fast as they can, while being shot at from people on the side of the road, swirving like mad, starting and stopping real quick, and not have a single crash. I think the odds are really against that happening. That is without dealing with the fact that these aircraft are stressing up to 9 g's when turning and trying to drop bombs at the same time.

First of all this has nothing to do with any accidents. This was done on purpose! Either you know that and you are just rambling about something different or you have missed the point of the thread.(Not directed at you hells)

Secondly, Most of the accidents that have happend, have happend a long way from any battle. The helicopter that killed 8 Brittish and 4 Americans crashed in Kuwait. The 2 Brittish choopers that creashed into eachother (killing 7) happed out in the Gulf.

Dude dont be worried about me. I'm against this war because I dont want to see my brothers in arms die. All I was saying is that Bush could've tried a little longer and work things out so we did'nt have to go to war for people to die.

You want something to worry about? Worry about the families whos sons or daughters wont make it home.

Well, excuse me. I'd agree with his conclusions. You shouldn't be in the army if u don't believe what it is doing. Your arrogance shows

Helicopters and sand dont seem to mix too well. Every time there are copters in the desert, there is always most likely going to be problems. These problems dont happen to fixed-wing aircraft near as much.
And hellswraith, I dont know about where you are, but we dont "ease up" on the guidelines when we are at war. We do it the same in war as in peacetime.

Oh, and if it was an american the did this, he should be shot, hung, castrated, drawn & quartered, tortured, hobbled, boiled in oil, and then we can do some nasty stuff to him before trying him.

During war time, my main mission is Aircraft Battle Damage Repair (ABDR). Our guidlines are REALLY lax compared to peace time.

Also, our aircraft have Mission Essential Subsystems Listings (MESL) that tell which sub systems on the aircraft have to be repaired for certain types of missions. So not all malfunctions will be repaired if time doesn't warrent it. That is the key though, time. If we have time, we will fix it up to peace time standards...and is probably being done the majority of the time.

Not much in the chapter about ejection seats for F-16's, it basically says they are not needed, pin it, and let the officer fly....
