SmartDRV acts as a cache which dramatically increases the transfer rate between your hard drive & CD Rom. It therefor takes less time to copy files.
You shouldn't really be using SmartDrive anyway M8, as XP has caching facilities in the inital GUI on install. To install XP on a second hard drive, just run setup.exe from your existing OS, and select "New install", and click advanced options to change "I want to choose the partition during setup" checkbox.
That's it!

Paul.
