XP folder customisation
Hi. I recently got a new computer, with WIndows XP. Previously i was using Windows 98, and had customised some of the folders (like, changed icons, added descriptions, background pic, made the writing a different colour)
I had previously done this by going into the folder, right-clicking, and pressing "Customize this folder" on the popup menu
However, i tried this in XP and there was no option to do so
So, i was just wondering if someone knew how to customise each folder, and whether it was possible.
Thanks for reading this

I know the information for the settings are stored in the "Desktop.ini" file in the customized folder. and that you can copy those files and setting from already customized folders. Either copying the file dirrectly or editting the INI file in notepad. I'm not sure about colors but I customized a folder with a backgound picture in 98 and upgraded to XP and the picture stayed but the only way I know to edit it is in the hidden desktop.ini file. Yeah it's possible

actually here is what i found in a desktop.ini file i started in win98.:
You should be able to place this at the bottom of the file.
This is for a background picture and text color. guess I found out about the color.

Attributes=1
IconArea_Image=C:\YOUR IMAGE HERE.bmp
IconArea_Text=0x00ffffff
The ffffff part of "IconArea_Text=0x00ffffff" makes the color WHITE in HTML color code. If you know about HTML color codes or maybe its called hex colors. I'm not sure on the naming but I know how to change/set it. just change the 6 F's to w/e you want. you can look up color codes on the web if you have to. and of course change C:\YOUR IMAGE HERE.bmp to a picture you want else remove that line if you dont want it.
BTW - check out the customize tab in the properties of a folder.

Thanks
Thanks for your help. Luckily, i used another computer with XP, with different folder settings, and for some reason it had "Customise this folder". So i am trying to figure out what setting was different to mine. If i find out, i might post it here for later reference.

Yeah thats what I was saying at the end.
"the customize tab in the properties of a folder".
When you click 'Customize this folder', it takes you to the customize tab in the properties of the folder. But you can't do very much like set a background picture or change the fore/back colors. It wont let you. As far as I know you have to do it by hand.
