programmers needed for an inovative program - please read for details
Ok what I'm looking for is a way to (not sure if this is even posible, but I would think) discramble cable tv through a cable modem.
the reason I'm asking is because I have cable modem and TV but I want to be able to watch cable through my pc, and since I don't have a Video Capture card and dont see having the money for one in a long time i was hoping someone would be able to come up with a way to do this.
also I would think it is possible to do so, because of the fact that the signal come through the same wire. but that's just my thoughts.

truthfully no it would not be illegal since it is not illegal to own a hardware descrambler but it is to use it... go figure

Not possible, though if you just use a Coaxial splitter and buy a PCI TV card... you could write a decoder for that.
but besides the hardware stuff, software decoding isn't simple. Most large pay-tv/satellite companies have quite a bit of encryption technique on their signal.
If you know Canal+, the only way to decrypt their signal is to always make sure the + signal (their logo) is on the upper right corner... that way you can sync the display.... but they haven't figured out how to decrypt its sound
..
my 2 cents
