RedHat Linux installation Question
I'm trying to install RedHat Linux 6 on my secondary PC (PII 300MHZ MMX). I have a few questions about it:
Right now Windows 2000 Pro occupies the 4 gig hard drive in that computer. There's also a 340 MB hard drive in there. Can I dual boot Win2k and RedHat on the same 4 gig hard drive, or will Linux fit on the 340 MB disk?
Perhaps more urgent is the fact that I can't get it to install. I pop in the CD, and the boot loader attempts to start the installation. After displaying something about a 1.44 MB floppy (which isn't installed ) it says 'boot failed'. Sometimes it goes to the next line 'SYSLINUX ...' and then fails. Any idea why this is happening.
Thanks in advance!

What does Red Hat say for a minimum install size in MB? There are barebones versions of Linux that fit on a floppy, but you really need to figure out how big the applications you want to run will take up. IMHO, I found it easier to install Windows 2k and Linux on seperate hard drives when I tried it.

Get these: Mozilla Opera OpenBSD
I have books for sale: "MCSD in a Nutshell" and "VB Distributed Exam Cram" - PM me for details. Will also trade for a decent ATX Pentium 2 MB/CPU/RAM combo.

How about partitioning the drive 70/30, with Linux occupying the smaller half. How would I be able to dual boot them from the same hard drive?

Good Ol' Platypus
You don't miss anything Vision... was just about to post that .
My new computer goes something like this (well not something, it DOES go like this... ).
80gb HDD:
40gb NTFS (Win2k)
20gb FAT32 (Data)
20gb ReiserFS (Gentoo)
I doubt most people will need 20gb for their linux partitions, but I do like to have lots of space to... experiment (I have filled up a 10gb partition before, and its a pain looking for stuff you can delete!).
All contents of the above post that aren't somebody elses are mine, not the property of some media corporation.
(Just a heads-up)
