DVD-ROM LAPTOP Hardware Issues
I just recently purchased an IBM Thinkpad 560X. This laptop came with a Teac DVE28E DVD-ROM drive. It came running Windows ME (I'm thinking why me), but I was going to put WIN2K on the system.
NOW....I just can't figure out how to get windows me to recognize the drive. The drivers are all correct, but the drive does not show up in My Computer. Furthermore it won't run any cd's. The light just sits there blinking...I don't understand.
I have also tried plugging my ZIP 250 USB drive into the computer and the light just blinks on that too. When I look in My Computer after plugging in the ZIP 250 drive I see the drive, but when I put a disk in and try to open it, it says "No Disk in Drive"
I have tried everything I know to do to get a different OS on this thing, but I can't seem to get anything to work. Any suggestions??

Two things...
1. Your laptop maybe faulty.
2. The BIOS may need a reset. I think it's F10 on the 560's on boot, which should display the BIOS screen.
You'll know if it works, as the mouse cursor is a stupid bird which flaps it's wings when you move around. What were IBM thinking?
Check it first... then take it back if it still doesn't work.
Regards,
Paul.
