I have experience developing database apps that are used by either 1 or just a few people. I want to learn more about scalabilty issues.
Does anyone have any books they'd recomend that cover this or maybe some online articles.
I'd also appriciate if someone could post some general topics that I could search for online. I'm not sure exactly where to start my search.

I find that Wrox press books are the best. There is one called something like 'VB6 databases' which is excellent. It will show you all the steps to build a 3 tier scalable database solution. ( The book uses SQL Server )

Do you have the book?
I was at their site this morning and they have a few books that could fall into that description. They have one called 'Professional Visual Basic 6 Databases' and then they have some visual basic & SQL Server Books. Are you refering to the 'Professional Visual Basic 6 Databases' book?
I have a few of their books. I just got 'Beginning Visual Basic 6 Objects'. If you haven't read it I recomend it. Using their sugestions seems like it would make for a very easily maintainable database.
