Jupiter Media bought VBForums and VBWorld. Developer.com is their development website that they already had up and running.

He also put out a fairly decent VB.NET book... available at Barnes & Nobles... I bought it... its pretty darn good... had what I was lookin for... mainly building ASP.NET and ADO.NET functionallity all described in that very down-to-earth manner....

But, yes, Karl Moore's company WhiteCliff was the websites previous owner...

Maybe they'll merge it with codeguru.com. That's an internet.com site too, as well as earthweb.com and developer.com

I haven't any thing of the kind. I suspect that they aren't going to. If they were, they would have done it by now. I think the biggest planned change was the ads at the top & bottom.

Yeah, I hope your right. By the news item on the developer.com vb site it would seem to indicate that the forums will continue on. That's good!

    Archived Webpages

VBworld is archived at archive.org, type a archived web site into the "WayBack Machine" and they have archived it, some content does not survive the archival process, but most does. And the wayback machine works by dates they sent out their spiders, to search for changed content, if the spider finds any content it archives it and dates the documents.

The newest date at archive.org is January 26, 2002, before the new UI sadly . At least you wont get the "archived documents message!"

    www.archive.org

    more specifically : http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://www.vbworld.com

The VBWorld and other content is being incorporated into Developer.com. This is going slower than expected; however, you'll find the articles are starting to show up there. You'll also find a number of other VB and VB-related articles on the site.

VBForums is not merging with CodeGuru. Currently there are no plans to change VBForums.

The articles will all be maintained, new articles will be posted, and additional VB Gurus will be contributing. We are even working with Karl to have him continue posting new items on a regular basis.

I think what you fail to realize (or just ignore) is that most people's problem isn't with "are the tutorials available" but where they're available.

We don't like developer.com. We like vbworld.com. The vbworld network was a community and a great thing for us. And now all these Fabio's on black bicycles are showing up and smacking everyting up. That's what most people are complaining about.

Why cant developer.com just put vbworld on their server and change the url to something like www.developer.com/vbworld? They could add some banners and stuff and everyone is happy?

Yeah i havent been here in awhile due to school but i thought this site was no longer when i typed in www.vbsquare.com and looked for my account. I am kina piss right now that we are merging with this other site. But i guess we have no choice in the matter.

We're not merging with anybody. Jupitermedia bought the site, tacked some banners in a dumb spot, and called it good.

The IPs are gone. However there's a small link at the bottom of developer.com/vb with previous articles, and you can get the original site at http://web.archive.org/web/*/www.vbworld.com/ as of January 26, 2002.
