Open Source Project
I am involved in putting togeather an open source game writers project. The main focus at this time is VB (C++ is cool too) but any and all code that furthers these aims is fine.
We now have a web presence (of a fashon) http://gamewriter.proboards6.com/ (to discuss) AND http://continue.to/writegames , but could now do with some code writting gurus to really make things sing!
Any help here fully appriciated.

You are welcome to contribute your code and any other code related stuff you feel might be used or aprisiated by others.
As I was thinking of writing a spirit based game I would find the subs usefull.
thanx for the interest.

I am rebuilding my space shooter. I believe you will like this project; it has much to offer. The most note-worthy in my opinion are the bullet recycling system and brand new collision detection subroutines.

I'm afraid I don't have time to help, but the project itself sounds like a good idea.

That's great for a start.
Have you consider trying using DirectX?
I'm a bit curious to see which one is the fastest.
And you may get better fps if it's full screen (well in Dx surely cause it didn't have to "calculate" in a window)
Last thing (well a smal bug) the shadow of the ship doesn't move on it's side when the primary ship does.
I'm looking for your next version
Great

Thank you for your feedback. I have updated the zip with comments near the AlphaBlit call for the second ship image. I won't be using directx for compatibility reasons. It is possible to write your own dlls that are a fraction of the size and just as fast. I will do that someday.

New Version
I took a fast look at it cause I'm in a hurry, but I've only notice that the main ship is a bit faster than the one in the previous version. The FPS rate is almost the same. (The rest seem the same except for the background and the third bubble)
When I told you the "shadow" ship wasn't moving like the "primary" one, you were not force to remove it
For the code I will look at it later sorry.

as you pointed out, there was some confusion with regards to the 'shadow'. I commented the line out and added comments to clarify its purpose.
