Web based Application

Hi,

I need help. I want to develop a web based system but do not know how to go about it.

Can someone please tell me
1)what is needed to develop a web based system. the steps?
2) is client and server programming needed? if yes what programming language is used for the server and the client. i thought of using vb.net/c# and ASP.Net is this sufficient?

Nope, because you want something that's more likely to run on the servers you'll find, which primarily don't run IIS because it's total crap

Meanwhile in the real world I continue to write apps using ASP .NET that run on IIS with no problems what so ever.
