    Question xp style forms

    Hello All...

    Does anyone know how to get the windows xp look? I would like for my new projects to have the xp style look but do not know how to do that. Can anyone help???

    There are a few ways... for one, you can make images of the buttons (simple enough)... or there are some controls available. I don't remember any links off the top of my head, but i'll look.

    You need to use .manifest file with your app... Search "manifest" on these fora and you should find what you're looking for. It will have no use on < WinXP OSes, but it will show the program "correctly" if you're in XP.

    I think I've seen that controls inside frames don't get effected.

    .Manifest will work only for Windows XP OS...
    There are some controls on planet-source-code.com which will solve your requirements upto some level..

    I'm with DiGiTaIErRoR on this one.

    However, If you do insist on implementing a different look and feel for your software compared with all of the other programs on a users machine, at least have the ability to turn it off!!!

    Why XP Styling???

    Because the customer is always right!!!

    If you are doing a project for someone that wants the XP look... then you must give them the XP style.

    Is that a simple enough reason????

    I like some of the styling of XP...it is a different look. But my functionality comes above all.

    ?Xp Styling on Win 987/2000/ME/NT

    I see that the manifest file will allow the XP styling to take place on XP. Is there a file to get that same styling to work with Win 98/2000/ME/NT4.0 ?

    tell the customer to download windowblinds! it lets you change the GUI of win98/ME/2000/NT

    strange if they'd be more concerned with the way it looks than it being functional.

    If they want the XP look, tell them to install XP. Or WindowBlinds..... but making your app look all "pretty" (crappy) won't do a d@mn bit of good if it doesn't freekin work. I know of a commercial app where this happened. They concentrated so hard on the touchy fely GUI that the back end and the inner workings of it were pure crap. I could have produced some thing better in my spare time. The project was nearly a year late hitting the shelves, delivered on only 25% of promised functionality.... turned out to be a major eye sore and all around piece of junk no one ended up wanting.

    Why do people reply to these posts when they have no information. If you don't like XP then that is alright with me. But since so many people do like the XP styling, then you have to give the people paying you, what they want.

    Now does anyone else have any information on the subject?
