About VB World
Here is part of a note from Gus:
We were caught off guard late Friday afternoon when the VBworld host went down. Emails to White Cliff were not answered, so rather than have the link go dead, we re-directed to Developer.com's VB section.

Is that really what happened though, or did they realize they made a mistake and are just trying to play it off like it was Karl's fault?

Websites go down all the time, and the weekends can be a pain to get probs fixed, but I think this whole mess could have been avoided with a quick announcement. It was the same with the change over and the rules, a complete lack of communication.

That's what really happened.
I wouldn't have said it, if it wasn't.

Don't worry, some will just keep screaming witch until you go the the old Salem "float or sink" test.
Laugh, and the world laughs with you. Cry, and you just water down your vodka.
Take credit, not responsibility

Yeah. But you mention nothing about whether or not it will be back. In fact, in a chit chat post, you said:

All of the VB world articles will be at Developer.com's VB section.
There is an unfortunate delay -- the VBworld site was supposed to continue until we had all the articles moved but something went wrong at the original VBworld server. Not sure why the old server went down. We haven't been able to reach the webmaster there. But within a few days, all of the old articles that are still relevant will be back.
Which eludes to the fact that it WONT be back. Which is what we're ticked off about.

I suggest in the future, you get a secondars DNS record on a different server what can be updates with a small amount of text saying who, what, when, why about why the server is down. I think it would be better than redirecting to a new site and making ewveryone think that VBWorld is gone for good.

So should one expect VBWorld to be back online. Even www.vbapi.com is unavailable, while vbsquare is available through this address http://216.26.168.92/vbsquare/.

Karl, if you read this, you have the whole site, right? Could you change the name, keep the articles, and host it again as a new site? It will be worth more than this bull**** developer.com crap.

All articles that were at VB world which are still relevant (not out of date) which is most of them, are going to be published at
http://www.developer.com/net/vb/
They are going through an import and review process now to make sure they have been converted OK and to weed out anything that is hopelessly out of date. By Monday they will start appearing in developer.com's VB section.
It's taking longer than I would have liked because this week is a short work for most offices in the US -- today is a half-day and tomorrow is Thanksgiving. Otherwise they would have been moved more quickly.

Out of curiosity, what would constitute "out of date"?

I'm not the one deciding but I would assume it's articles solving problems that don't exist any more. I don't know, maybe how to fix Y2K problems? I'm sure it would be obvious.
