ge8 demo
i thank all of you great programmers for helping me over the years. I think I owe you a little status report on my rpg.
Status - ...still 50 billion years from being completed~! However, being on my 8th game engine, I've perfected a lot of the core coding, like graphics and tiling and such.
I threw together a quick demo of my basic game engine, and as a bonus, threw in my level editor as well~! I'd also like to appologize in advance for having to include my crappy, not-quite-finished tileset as a sample.

Don't usually touch an exe, but tonite i thought 'what the hey'.
Opened it, and it immediately quit. No errors, no nothing, just opened, screen went black, then back to desktop.
Hope this helps.
Pete.

could you take a look at the log that may or may not have appeared on your desktop. if it crashed during a DD sub, it probably left a log.txt
be sure to take a look at the readme, also. i threw the demo together quickly, so it's not very generic - meaning there's a few things you have to do to make sure it runs correctly (save everything on c:\windows\desktop, save the map file as testmap)

If it must be on Windows\Desktop, then I'm afraid I and many others will be unable to run it; Only 9x/ME stores it there. Other OS (such as Win2k/XP) store it in Documents And Settings. It ran, gave a ding sound, and turned grey- as if there was an error and directdraw ceased to have control of the form. Then i pressed Ctrl-Break and it threw me back to the desktop.

Nice, nice! And you got that character (or characters) off of RPGMaker 2k, I think...
