    Exclamation WMI and Active Directory

I was just wondering if you have to have Active Directory running to take use of the WMI? i am writing a general tool to compile information about client pc's at some of my company's sites. Some are running active directory, some are not. This would be a great piece of info to know. Thanks.

I dont think so. WMI starts automatically for all the NT oses (Win2000/WinXP).

Windows Management Interface is completely separate from ActiveDirectory, although I believe there's an interface to ActiveDirectory that WMI can use.
