    The normal.dot I received from a customer to work on is locked. Its not the properities file lock. I can not record a macro or open the macroset for editing with Tools, VisualBasic. Can anyone help me?

    Well, this may or may not help, but in Word you can do File>Save As>Options... and then enter something in Password to open: and/or Password to modify:, and that may be how it got to be locked.
