VirtualDub can do this. It can take a series of still BITMAPS (not JPEGs though - you'll have to convert) and waves and make them into AVI files, which you can then encode to TMPGenc. You'll need a JPEG -> BMP program and an MP3 -> WAV program, as well as VirtualDub and TMPGenc.

I didn't know you could do that in VirtualDub. I didn't explore much than just converting my movies into DivX
Can you please tell me how can I convert bitmaps into avis. Which menu to use.

Don't know how to use APIs or have problem with them,
Download API-Guide & API-Viewer from http://www.allapi.net
Certainly. Use open video file as normal, go down the list to DIB Sequence (*.bmp). They should be like MyImage00001 .... MyImage99999, not MyImage1 .... MyImage99999. Then you can cue in sound by using the Audio menu. Choose WAV audio. You can then use Interleave to offset the audio so it 'syncs in' with the video.

actually I wanted to make a Video file which simply consists of a single Image displayed on screen and the Audio going on in the background. But In this sw, u can place audio for only as long as the Video plays...
From what I understood ,
to get around it I may have to rename the same image as img0001..img0002..etc some 1000 times to make a 1 min. video that simply has the same image on display.....but this is just not practically possible..so suggest
BTW, any way to convert an animated .GIF to AVI.?..coz making a single image 60 second Video is easier in Barbarosa Gif Animator..the earlier version of BGA could convert str8 to .AVI, the new version can't and I can't find the old version.
Well here we go then... download Jasc Animation Shop 3 evaluation (if you d/l PaintShop Pro 7 eval, Anim Shop comes with it and never expires... ). Then import your bitmap, change the delay to 600 tenths of seconds. Then you can save as uncompressed AVI (will take about 10 minutes on a Celeron 500). Then, import in VD and interleave the audio

hey thanx.... I almost did it..came within inches of doing it.. :-)..actually everything workjed out fine..but when I interleaved a .wav with the AVI in VD, the audio track of the resulting AVI was very ...uhh..umm...choppy ?....as in the audio suddenly stops in between..has pauses..etc....whatever....do tell me if u have any troubleshooting advice for that
007,
It didnt give any error for the images ..I converted it into an AVI..
but of course it always has that "illegal operation" error whenever I convert any animation into AVI..
any1 knows where I can find the old version (2.6 or sumthing) of Barbarosa Gif Animator ?
funny thing happened.. I interleaved a 60 sec .wav of 12MB with a 60 sec AVI of 25 MB in Virtual Dub and it gave me a HUGE output AVI file of 670 MB..what am I doing wrong ?
VD goes to uncompressed video, audio by default. Open up your no-sound file, go to video, select direct stream copy. Go to audio, select no compression, and WAV audio, just like before... good luck to you!
