    Sound card problem **Resolved**

Sorry for the vauge subject and the vauge post to follow. A friend (we'll call him 'Chris') just formatted his comp and installed WinME. He was previously using Win98 (not se). Now his sound car produces no sound. The odd thing is, is that it acts fine... for example you click an mp3 and winamp runs (the little volume thing moves and all) but no sound (yes the speakers are plugged in ). The computer is an athlon 900mHz with i think 512mhz ram. the card is a sound blaster...
    any ideas?
    thanks
    michael

yeah, get rid of ME and put back 98.

Seriously though, did you check the speakers for a loose or broken wire?
How is it one careless match can start a forest fire, but it takes a whole box to start a campfire?
