DX8 and 3D Studio Max - Vertex Paint

Hi all

Bit of a specialist topic this 1 but maybe some1 knows the answer.

I am attempting to use Vertex Paint in my 3d max models.

When I apply the paint (it shows up in the viewport) and then convert and then load the .x file the paint is not there.

Any ideas why please?

This has gotta be my longest shot yet
