    VB.NET & Direct3D

Does anyone have any good links for beginner level tutorials using Direct3D with VB.NET?

I have visited http://www.directx4vb.com and most of the content (which I have refered to in the past) are for VB6. I have messed around following those tutorials a couple of years ago, but never got into the DirectX stuff after that and now I want to try it again with VB.NET.

Should I wait until DirectX 9 comes out? If so, then does anyone know how much longer it will be in beta?

I didn't know whether or not to post this in the gaming or VB.NET forum, so I took a guess to use this forum.

    thanks,

I think you should wait until DirectX 9.

DX8 wasn't programmed with .NET in mind, and it uses COM objects. DX9, however, will use .NET assemblies, which will make it far more programmer-friendly (and faster) for .NET programmers.

I was also going to learn DirectX 8. However, its harder to program with in VB.NET than it was in VB6 (the objects, constants, and properties are located in different places).

Then I learned that DirectX 9 will be officially out this fall, and that it's being written for .NET. So, I figured, it might be beneficial to wait on making 3d games, and just make 2d games with the GDI+ for now.
