    Question

i have unfortunately to use NT workstation, and i cannot edit registry. i uninstalled a program (i don not know which of them) and it gives a message such as cannot find "C:\WINNT\wt\wcmdmgrl.exe" at the startup of computer session. i checked all the sys and ini files to find this string; no info. i tried to run regedit.exe to find the exe file; but administrator have disabled me from doing that. does anyone can help me how to disable this exe file from startup? there is no link in the startup folder.
    regards,

Try searching all files for the exe filename if one is found edit it and delete that line that reffers to it. If the administrator dissabled the regedit option...how about using your vb skills and exporting the registry to a text file and searching for the exe name and importing the registry back. That would be a VERY slow way of doing it. But the resitry is stored in two files on the HD so if you search for the exename by going to Start\find\files and specifing the exename in the "Contains" field. You WILL find it.

    Yes propbably your administrator.

Well actually you have to. If you can't edit the registry you must let someone how has the privilage to do so open up the registry editor for you.

I don't think you can because you don't have the permission to run RegEdit or RegEdt32.

Clint: I would search the files for the containing text instead of messing with the registry. I can almost garantee that you will find a refference to the exe.
