Down with Sierra!!!
I got the demo for Nascar Season 2002 the other day for some reason, anyway, I when I tried to play it, I couldn't get the car to go... the controls were totally fruited, maybe I needed a steering wheel, I dunno. Anyway, upon exiting, it pops up with an ad for the full version, anyway, I had no idea how to leave (the screen), so I ended up clicking on the Developers Image. Big mistake. It closed, and then tried to open an Internet Window.
And since I wasn't connected, I closed it, so it just kept on popping up more and more, it must have been at least 100 before I shut down my comp.
Definately not happy jane. Feel free to burn anything that has Sierra's name on it. And if you really hate something that doesn't have Sierra on it, just write it on it and burn it anyways

Sierra made arguably the best free screensaver of all time (well, before 1994 anyway!) Johnny Castaway.. It might be old, but it's still fantastic.
And as it is on my hard drive I don't think I'll burn it

Sierra didn't make it, they published it. I can't remember who made it.

They're not talking about Command and Conquer
Counterstrike is a multiplayer-only addon for Half Life, which was published by Sierra and made by Value

The best Sierra game in my opinion was Space Quest 4.
Thank you for playing Space Quest 4! As usual, you have been a real pant load...
Laugh, and the world laughs with you. Cry, and you just water down your vodka.

Space Quest 3 is my favourite, personally Oh and of course Leisure Suit Larry 2. Pretty much all the other Sierra adventures are also quality though.
Johnny Castaway rocks
Harry.

SQ3 rocked, but I liked the narrator that went along with the 4th.
I still play 3 every once in a while, its much more entertaining than any PS or Nintendo game ever was for me.

Oh yeah, Chris, maybe that was a typo but CS was developed by Valve not Value

CS was bought(maybe not bought, maybe financed?) by Valve. They had nothing to do with it before then (other then making half life, of course...).
It was around the time of the updated network code that valve got into CS. Valve went and reprogrammed the CS GUI code for the original developers, and the same for the CS Network code update. It might have been the other way around, too, Network and then GUI, I dont remember back that far... After that, you started to see CS on store shelves.

Uh, yeah, I meant that Valve developed Half Life, I didn't even know they got involved in any Counter Strike dev work.... ugh, it's late

Yeah, when valve was about to release the new network SDK to the mod community, they took CS and rewrote it to work with the new code before releasing it to everyone else. End result was that the only mods you could play for a few weeks were CS and TFC.

I'm of the opinion that Sierra's product went up the ****ter as soon as they started on their point n' click direction. All the games got **** after that (RPGs at least) - you could never work out what the hell you were sposed to do, so you just click everything on everything else, until some bizarre combination of objects moves the story forwards...

Doesn't it seem like their games are getting worse as years go by?

I know what you mean, I was just thinking about this... there's something much more satisfying about having to come up with your own words for what you want to do and type them in. The point and click thing is useful for some things, and it worked for Monkey Island, but I just cannot imagine playing Larry 2 with point and click. The point and click interface was the main reason I was never a fan of SQ4, it was just a bit... sucky.

I got sick of Larry 5 after about 5 minutes of that point n' click bollocks. Totally ruined the whole game... never played it again since...

I just cheated on the Net - sometimes the commands were a bit obscure. KQ1 was quite a ***** to get the wording right at times. Mind you, I'd been playing text-based stuff like Guild of Thieves for awhile, so I had a headstart...
