idiot's question about playing sound....
Umm I dont know how to explain this.... There is a limit for the number of applications that play some kind of sound at the same time. For example on my old comp if I was playing music I couldnt hear any other sounds from any other programs becuase my sound card could only play one sound at a time....
There is a place in windows where you can specify/limit this number, I cant find it.... anyone can help?
sorry for the poor explanation

If there is anything I would assume it would be in Control Panel > Multimedia. I think you can sometimes change drivers for your card from there, depending on your card.

MrPolite: Try what Rick Bull said, but I believe that is a hardware limitation. What sound card do you have? If it's an old card, that is definitely the issue.

I tried the control panel thingie, but I cant find it there.... and no I'm not having a problem right now, I have creative Live so it works pretty good
The thing is that there was also a section about the amount of RAM used to play sound or something like that. I cant find that niether, maybe it was something installed by the drivers

I had the same problem with windows 95 and 98, but now I've got XP, I can have several apps all playing sound at the same time.

MrPolite: Get the latest Creative drivers from the website. The Live! is capable of multiple audio streams. A lot of times you need the latest from Creative-- the drivers on the CD for my Audigy don't support any EAX.

Good Ol' Platypus
Don't do it! Don't listen to him, lol
But seriously, on two occasions I've installed the official creative drivers for my SB PCI 512, and it screws up Counter-Strike and RtCW. (Won't let you connect to multi-player servers). I know its because of this.
Just a friendly warning
