In my experiance with this board, it is always changing, up/down, up/down.... If they are even working, they are switching from UBB to VBulletin. I would like to meet this man.....

Okay, for that avatar (the photo), you go into User CP, Options, go to avatar, and go to Change. Upload a 64x64 avatar (or less) from your computer in GIF/JPEG format (I think). Then, click okay and you have your avatar!
All contents of the above post that aren't somebody elses are mine, not the property of some media corporation.

I don't care if this does get moved to Chit-Chat...I just glad to be back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Here is the scoop. The host behind the forums (vbBullentinHosting.Com) reported that the servers hosting this site became corrupt and had to be rebuilt. I've been checked 4 and 5 times a day since I was on last (last Thursday) and this is the first time anything has come up.
There may be more stuff going on behind the scenes but at least it is back.

That uBB was only for the article feedback, and plus the main forum's been vBulletin for 2-3 years now.

I thought it was dead!
I temporarily went to another VB forum, but it's good to have this one back. This one is much better and everyone is helpful here. If anyone ever needs a backup forum
www.visualbasicforum.com
is not bad. this is still King though. Good to have this back. I had to do a lot more thinking and figuring this past week!

I wonder how many charact
You know what was even worse? No indication on the VBWORLD homepage that the forums were down.... No news... or Here's what happening....nothing....
As far as www.visualbasicforum.com :
The mod's on there are like Nazi hawk's.... start a thread about VBFORUMS.COM, and they move it and then close the thread...
But let's hope Karl can get these issues worked out....
I still think he should get MS to donate some $$$... hell, they spent $500 million on marketing alone for the XBOX....

I wonder what exactly the problem is with the slowness. Is it the server? The hosting company? Need another server? What?
Maybe we need to pass around the hat or something.

I wonder how many charact
Well, this forum as 30,000 members....
Let's say roughly 1,000-2,000 are active participants....
charge $5 a year.... that's about $5-10,000 for paying hosting services....
Of course, that would lead to alot of difficulties... what to do with new members who only post once or twice, require them to pay? That would drop the forum's usefulness... they would go somewhere else...
I can't imagine the site is getting that many hits where its an unbearable amount of traffic, so it has to be the server....

I think some big hot shot company should donate a server or two. If not then take a one time collection for a new machine, like you said $5 a person adds up real quick.

I cried a tear.
WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE It's backup WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE, still getting over the initial shock of the page loading.
Anyways this is my favorite place to go on the net, and it was down for almost a week. I was getting worried. Anyways I searched all over the ne for answers to my questions, when I'm sure they will eb answered by the end of the day here. As for paying I would ba happy to pay, however when I was new to the forum I did not relise how valuable it could be, and therefor would not have payed for it.

We don't know what's wrong. . . So the best bet might be to remove something surgically.

NO chance of that mate, everyone would leave to go to other vb boards...
And BTW it's running quite fast this arvo downunder.

Theres only usually like maximum of 30 people browsing the forums at a time if I remember correct.....that isnt very much at all.....i don't know what the problem is. It worked great before, then slow all of a sudden, without a massive increase in threads....
