    Unhappy

    Hey all,

I know that this post is off-topic so I apologise straight away.

I see that lots of people who post in here are Senior Software personnel, programmers, analysts, etc etc. I am happy for ya all though I have to ask ya all a question.

How did you end up where you are at present, i mean job wise ofcourse?

I am a graduate in New Zealand and no one wants to take me in to the IT industry not even as a trainee. Why? Just because I dont have any experience! Thats sad but its a reality. I am at present very frustrated and I am in a position where i am willing to travel anywhere in the world to do some real IT work.

So please if ya can tell me how ya all got your jobs and in a position you are now.

thanking you all for the time
    regards
    Zombrax

I guess it all started as plain luck. I got a job as a programmer with my last boss, I worked there on the administration department, I got the job as programmer, had to start 3/4 year later, and in the meantime I started with VB (although the job was C programmer). I didn't even know what a function was when I got the job! :-)
Well since then I learned a lot of VB (no courses or classes though...) so to get this job was easy, I'm kinda like the walking MSDN library here. Friday I start with a new job, and they're even worse.. For them I'm some sort of programming god *LOL*
So uhmm guess I was lucky... most companies here want ppl with experience too.. crazy things they ask (18, 6 years of programming experience and some university course finished...)
I guess right now in Holland it's some sort of lucky that there is way too less ppl for the jobs (not only IT jobs), I see ppl being hired who hardly know how to open the win explorer, but they're hired for helpdesks and consultants etc, I've seen programmers being hired who couldn't tell the difference between a string and a long (not kidding!)
I don't know how it is in New Zealand, but if I hear you, it's lots harder to get a job. Well of course you can always lie a bit about your experience :-)
    Hope this helps

    Crazy D
