    Exclamation

I have been trying to add a component to my project, a Winsock Control (mswinsck.ocx).

But keep getting this "You Do Not Have The Appropriate License to Use this Component" or something like that.

Can any one help me to get this control onto my forms.
I am using VB5 (SP1), and running on Win98 (first release)

I have tried to find this component on the Internet with no hope.

Do i need to re-install VB5 and the Service Pack ?

can anyone help me with this problem.

if you have vb5 learning edition then you do not have the appropriate licence to use it, only pro, and enterprise edtion do.

if you do have a pro, or enterprise edtion then there is a file on microsoft to install all the appropriate licenes for you copy of vb, sorry I can't remember the url for it.

I used to get that! (about 2 years about using vb5)

I uninstalled the whole lot, checked that the latest version of IE was installed and then reinstalled (ALL of the vb part of visual studio) and all was fine. never saw it again. it was a bug I think.

Just make sure you uninstall then delete everything then reinstall EVERYTHING. (careful with the size of some of those help files though)

never saw it again, never found a fix for the problem either
